AtlasTrak GPS Units

Thank you for your patience with the new GPS units. VAST understands and sympathizes with those clubs impacted and their frustrations with the GPS units. We are aware of the issues regarding the infrequency of the grooming signal data and have continued to work with the host company to troubleshoot the issues for a hopeful solution soon. Some of the infrequency with data results may be due to the placement of the GPS unit. We hope to have this all fixed ASAP and will update clubs as soon as more information is available.

AtlasTrak GPS Unit Placement

GPS Units MUST adhere to the top of the cab of the power unit (Not on the dash, Not on the back, Not next to an exhaust pipe or anything else blocking it from the line of sight of the horizon). Placement should be in the center or towards the driver's side away from antennas, and in a location where the unit has protection from a beam from the brush bar, light, mirror bracket etc. Again, the GPS unit needs to have little to nothing solid blocking it because it needs to be in the line of sight to the horizon to be effective.

To affix to the top of the cab, first, use the alcohol wipes to clean the surface and the GE Silicone Glue that was provided with the GPS unit. Make sure to move the micro switch on the GPS unit to the ON position. Units are activated when the machine moves. They do NOT need to be turned off at the end of each run. Keep the GPS unit clean and visible, and make sure to clear snow and debris as much as possible. At the end of the season, the GPS unit will need to be switched to the OFF position and the batteries removed.

GPS Units come equipped with 4-L92 AAA lithium batteries, which should last the duration of the season. Contact VAST if you need additional supplies.
