Monotypes are one-of-a-kind prints using simple techniques. The classes will provide a basic introduction to the use of the etching press with the introduction of the pin press in creating multi-layered monotypes. Artists will produce a printing plate from an original drawing or design and will become familiar with printmaking processes, tools, and techniques using non-toxic waterbased Akua inks. Drypoint and stencils will be explored. Emphasis will be on color, visual texture, line and composition.

Mark making is a term used to describe the different lines, patterns, and textures we create in an artwork. It applies to any art material(s) we use on any surface(s), not only paint on canvas or pencil on paper. A dot made with a pencil, a line created with a pen, a swirl painted with a brush, these are all types of mark making.

We will also explore Printmaking with foliage natural to the area and Compost Printmaking. Instruction and demonstration will be given on each techniqueWith generous Open Studio time and non-toxic inks and solvents, printmaking has something for Artist of all skill levels.

Printmaking is not a static process and the journey of printmaking is an ever evolving and changing process.

Serve Denton; Exhibit Your Art and Benefit Others

We still need VAST artists to share work for the Wheeler House. We will be hanging work on Saturday, March 21, 10:00 am, at 821 North Elm Street. The work should be cheerful, up-lifting, and suitable for children.

If you are interested, please email your images to Jo Williams, texjo@msn.com. Send title, size, medium, and price. Work will be rotated in approximately three months.

This is a unique opportunity to share our art in a place where it will greatly enrich the lives of members of our community who are facing huge challenges. The Wheeler House will be home to Serve Denton, Health Services of North Texas, and a Downtown Bike Patrol substation.

VADO is a day where members may come paint at the CVA from 9:15am - 3pm, approximately two mornings a month.  There is no instructor, it is not a workshop...just an art gathering.

You may paint, sketch, quilt or what ever creative endeavor you desire in the fellowship with your artist friends.  Lunch and fellowship are the best parts!

The cost is $10 a year, or $1 a session if you just want to drop in every now and then.  Pay with your dues, or you can send $10 to:
