This month Missy Finger, PDNB Gallery owner, is our guest speaker. Missy's presentation is titled "From Today, Painting is Dead: Twenty Years of Promoting Photography."

Missy Finger and her husband Burt opened PDNB Gallery (Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery), in Dallas in 1995. PDNB is an art gallery specializing in photography and photo-based works from the 20th Century to present.

Before opening the gallery, they were private dealers in antiques, including: fine watches, collectibles, and fine art.  Collecting photography became a passion of both Burt and Missy, which resulted in the opening of PDNB gallery.

Missy graduated in 1982 from the University of Texas, Austin, with a BBA and since has organized many group and solo exhibitions, and a traveling exhibition.

She served as Programming Chair for the Dallas Museum of Art's Friends of Photography in the mid-1990's. The gallery has been a long-time member of AIPAD (Association of International Photography Art Dealers) since 1997. Missy currently serves on the Board of AIPAD. She has also participated in the FotoFest Biennial's Meeting Place since the early 1990's as a reviewer. The gallery is also a member of the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD).

(Their work can be seen at the DFW Airport terminal D where they produced several of the circular floor medallions.)  Darla's image will be one of the 10 round columns (2' diameter x 13' tall) focused on water creatures and/or plants scattered along the Parkway to mark where the Parkway crosses water.
