November Presentation:
Gail Delger, Watermedia Artist

"Abstract Acrylics from Photographs"

Painting professionally since 1990, Gail Delger works in watercolor, printmaking, collage and acrylic. The range of her work gives a glimpse of both her passion and talent as an artist and her sense of humor as an individual.

She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society,  the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies and the Southwestern Watercolor Society.  Her painting, "Full of Holes" was published in the book, Splash 9, The Best of Watercolor in 2006.  Her two paintings, "Old Number 10" and "Chicken Sit" were included in the 2008 book Confident Color by Nita Leland.

She had a painting accepted into the 2010 Watercolor USA  Show and also the 2010 Kansas Watercolor Society National Show.

To see more of Gail's work,

The meeting is Thursday, November 13 - 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts (P-A CVA) in Denton.

Member Profile Workshop Before Meeting

We will be holding a "Member Profile Workshop" between 6:00 and 7:00 tomorrow (November 13) before the VAST member meeting. Some knowledgeable board members will be on hand to assist you in entering and editing your user profile on VAST's website.  You will get help with inputing your artist information on the new site which will in turn increase the visibility of VAST and its talented members!

A limited number of computers will be available, so bring your laptop if you would like.  Also, bring a digital jpeg image that you would like to include with your information (on flash drive, is one way.)  This may be a photo of you or one of your art to represent you.  We will have your login credentials to give you if you have lost or forgotten them.

To get started on your own, here is a link to the updated directions.

Let's get the web roster filled with images and information!

Note Cards Needed!

For those of you who create your own note cards, The Art Guild (TAG) has requested donations for their "Bettin' on the Arts" Casino Night fundraiser to be held on November 15.  Please bring them to the meeting on Thursday or contact Jo Williams, (see below for TAG article)

Our "Sunshine" Committee is also looking for note cards created by our members, to be used to send to members. Donations would be appreciated and can be brought to any of our VAST meetings.

Monthly Mini-Shows

VAST members are encouraged to bring a piece of art to our monthly meetings for a member's choice competition.  We vote on our favorite pieces during the break.  At the conclusion of the program, we award the first place winner "Artist of the Month," who receives a $25 gift certificate from Asel Art Supply redeemable at any of their locations. The second place winner receives a $15 gift certificate from Asel.  The mini-show doesn't take place at the meeting when we have our High School Art Competition.  At the May meeting, all "Artists of the Month" bring back their winning artwork, and from these pieces, we vote and select our "Artist of the Year."  Once you have won "Artist of the Month" you are not eligible to win that award again in the current VAST year, but may bring work for "show" to subsequent monthly meetings after winning.

VADO is a day where members may come paint at the CVA from 9:15am - 3pm, approximately two mornings a month.  There is no instructor, it is not a workshop...just an art gathering.

You may paint, sketch, quilt or what ever creative endeavor you desire in the fellowship with your artist friends.  Lunch and fellowship are the best parts!

The cost is $10 a year, or $1 a session if you just want to drop in every now and then.  Pay with your dues, or you can send $10 to:
PO Box 1281
Denton, TX 76202
