Welding for a cause
Many of you know Dana Draa, our 2019 Veteran of the Year and one of our VBH Captains. Recently, Dana decided to use one of her many talents to raise money for VBH! Here is a short interview with details-
Q: Where did you learn how to weld?
A: My father, who is a Vietnam army Veteran was a welder for Florida East Coast (FEC) Railroad for over 35 years and he taught me to weld and many other amazing things like changing tires, oil, riflery, fishing, hunting, and much more.
Q: What were you welding and why?
I was welding stools at the The Town Brewing Company because the loyal customers had used their "spinny" features too much and they were getting a mind of their own. I am friends with one of the owners but everyone there was awesome!
Q: Why did you decide to donate your fee to Veterans Bridge Home?
A: I know that Veterans Bridge Home will be hit hard by the COVID 19 crisis and they are the backbone of stability for Veterans in the Charlotte area. I wanted to give back in a way that connected many different community layers (food and beverage, individuals, and non-profit) to show how to get creative so we can help sustain as many meaningful resources as possible. In short, we all need each other right now and we can give in so many ways!
Thank you Dana for all that you do for our community!
