COVID-19 EXACERBATES JOB WOES FOR VETERANS, MILITARY SPOUSES The unemployment rate for veterans was 2.9% when 2019 came to a close. Now, as the COVID-19 pandemic upends the U.S. economy, that figure has more than tripled, leaving nearly 800,000 veterans searching for work.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
VETERAN OF THE MONTH We are excited to recognize Travis Haymore as our September VOTM! You may recognize him as the man who donated a truck load of food to our food drive with Charlotte Rescue Mission a few weeks ago, but he also does a whole lot more. Travis is the National Director for Veteran Outreach for Rolling Thunder, an active member of American Legion Post 535, as well as the Veteran Outreach member for the American Legion Riders group from 535. And those are just his official titles. He also routinely attends military/veteran funerals nationwide, works with Veterans who are homeless in finding housing and other necessities, engages in interventions by getting Veterans who have substance abuse issues the help they need, and trains Veteran Service Organizations and Veteran groups on Suicide Prevention and Awareness.
We are so grateful for Travis and his heart for Veterans! Thank you for all you do!
