School Supply Drive Donation Challenge

This week are looking for the impact of this week to Go Beyond by collecting school supplies and monetary donations to give as a gift of God's love to those in need in the Columbus City School District.

As of today, here are the standings:

Remember , for every dollar you give your team gets a point. For every school supply donated, your team gets a point. For every new backpack given, your team gets 50 points.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

Our point total for the week has gone beyond what we originally anticipated! Your donations have been awe inspiring to our staff.

So to have a little bit MORE fun, we are issuing this challenge: if we get to 1,700 points by tomorrow morning drop off, Mission Commander Matt will ALSO get a pie to the face after the celebration tomorrow!

What We Were Up to Today

BEAMING BIBLE STORIES

Today we heard an extraordinary story of how Jesus healed 10 Lepers.

Giving thanks is important in the Bible, occurring over 120 times in the Scriptures! In this Bible story, we explored and observed the example a Samaritan provides by showing thanks for the blessing he received before enjoying its fruits. His gratitude and humility show us that, because of our faith, we can make a difference by showing thanks to those who care for us... at VBS and beyond!

We also wrote or drew on slips of paper those who we want to say thank you to today.

PLANET PRESCHOOL

We had a great time in our two preschool classes today!

Today we started with EP320 and blasted off with our story of The 10 Lepers who Jesus healed

We sang and played games and made suncatchers.

Our snack reminded us of our theme for today: thankfulness.

We enjoyed time on the playground and had an amazing time singing AND playing our theme song.

GALACTIC GAMES

Today we played a voyager favorite, 9 Square In The Air! This game is a lot like 4 Square, with the objective being to stay in the game as long as possible, rotating to the center (#1) square.

COSMIC CRAFTS

Today voyagers made and decorated flying saucers with paper plates and foam cups. They also made suncatchers using contact and tissue papers!

Sent home with them was a neat thing to do at home*: a film canister rocket!

*please note that the preschoolers did not get materials for this. The turquoise group did not get all of the elements today due to a supply shortage. They will get the rest of the materials tomorrow.

SPACE SNACKS

A typical symbol of thanksgiving is the cornucopia. With thankfulness as our theme for the day we enjoyed Cornucopia Cones for snack.

Made with store-bought conical ice cream cone filled with mix of Cheerios, Kix cereal, Cheez-It crackers with a sprinkling of M&Ms

ANNOUNCEMENTS

There will be pies in the face tomorrow following the ending celebration! Come out to the back parking lot to see an epic ending celebrating your epic giving!

Ice Cream Social & Toe Tapping Music

This Sunday is our annual outside the building church service and YOU ARE INVITED !

At our one service only worship this Sunday at 10:30a we'll gather behind the church building and under the sun tents. Music will be filled with the good old gospel hymns supported by guitars, string bass, banjo, piano, and clapping!

After worship we encourage everyone to bring items for a picnic lunch and AdventELC will provide homemade ice cream with a ton of toppings for dessert!
