Ever feel like you're walking through life with your pockets weighed down by rocks? Maybe not literal stones, but the heavy burdens we all quietly carry — fear, anxiety, shame, doubt, and grief. They're sneaky. We get so used to their weight that we forget we’re even carrying them. But every step feels harder, every task more draining.
The good news is: we don’t have to keep lugging them around.
Jesus invites us: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) He’s not asking us to power through or pretend we’re fine. He’s offering freedom — a light yoke, an easy burden, and the chance to walk unencumbered.
This Eastertide, we're reflecting on what it means to truly live into the new life Christ gives. Are we still clinging to old weights He’s already conquered? Like Thomas, we might wrestle with doubt. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, grief might cloud our vision. But through it all, Christ gently calls us to lay down our burdens.
One beautiful image from this series is turning those heavy “pocket rocks” into an Ebenezer — a marker of what God has done. Instead of stumbling under their weight, we place them at the altar as symbols of surrender and gratitude.
So, what’s in your pocket? What are you ready to lay down?
As a community, let’s walk lighter, love deeper, and live freer — together.
