Vacation Bible School

Are you brave, strong, fearless? Then we need you! This year we are taking our  Knights of the North Castle  VBS to homes and backyards all over town to provide kids with an amazing week in a smaller setting. We need Castle Guides to join us on our quest to put on the best VBS yet. What does a Castle Guide do? Castle Guides will be responsible for providing or procuring a space, leading activities, and arranging snacks. The church will be supplying each backyard VBS with a box of supplies and digital resources to make your VBS a success.
VBS will be held July 20-23 from 9-11am. Each morning will start with a live-stream opening assembly, and then backyard knights will work their way through lessons and activities as they gather the armor of God. We are asking our hosts to sign up by the end of May so that we know how many spaces we have available. Registration for children will open June 1st.
If you are ready to get started, here are some questions to think through:
  • Who could you team up with? Each backyard VBS will need two adults or one adult and one youth to act as Castle Guides.
  • Where could you host? Does your backyard have shade, space, tables, etc.
  • Who would you lead? You could host a VBS for only your children or grandchildren, team up with friends, or open your home to kids in your neighborhood.
  • What if I don’t know the answers to any of this? You can still sign up! The children’s staff will be working closely with each backyard VBS to design a space, build a roster, and we can even match up Castle Guides.
The mission of VBS has been a part of churches since the late 1800’s and continues to be one of the biggest summer outreaches offered. Churches have found a way to host Vacation Bible schools through wars, recessions, and yes, even pandemics. So here is our challenge: every year our Vacation Bible School reaches more than 400 children in our area to teach them about the love of God in a fun and exciting way. To achieve that this year, we will need at least 30 backyard VBS’s going on at once! It is a big challenge, but if anyone can do it, it is First UMC Rockwall.  Please consider where your place is in the ministry of Vacation Bible School. If you are ready to sign up, CLICK HERE !
Family Game Night

It's not too late to sign up! Zoom with the whole family and enjoy a night of Bingo! Register your family HERE . You will be sent the Zoom information as it gets closer! Game materials will be delivered prior to the event.
Mission to the elderly

Back in January and February, our Hour of Service teams worked hard to make gift bags with tie blankets and rice warming bags to be delivered to a local nursing home. Sadly they were never delivered and have been sitting at the church for a couple of months now!

We are asking families to help us get these bags delivered. You can stop by the church and grab one or two just inside the door of Building A. Who you deliver to is up to you! If you need help coordinating with a nursing home or have more questions, please reach out to Renee .
