This Weeks Theme for VBS:
Day 4
Jesus RESCUES Us

Take several minutes and review the last 3 VBS lessons of God Rescuing…
1.     Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
2.     Daniel
3.     Jonah

Can you share some stories from the Bible where Jesus RESCUED people?

Can you describe the type of people Jesus would spend most of his time RESCUING? Was it the well-to-do people, the rich, the successful, or was regular people, the poor, or those who seemed “lost?”

Today, we will learn about Jesus. We will learn how Jesus RESCUES all of us. Tell me what are your thoughts when you hear someone say, “Jesus is always RESCUING me.” Give some examples of how you think Jesus has RESCUED you in the past and continues to RESCUE you every day.

RESCUE Song with Words-
Hopefully, by today everyone has the words memorized

Today’s lesson is similar from the standpoint of being RESCUED, but it is different because we are connecting how Jesus saved many people during the Bible, but also how he continues to save each of us every day. Every day for over 2,000 years Jesus has been present and continues to RESCUE people. He continues to RESCUE people who have faith in Him. As we finish our last lesson today, be sure to remember that Jesus is present and with you every minute. He is watching over you at all times. Your faith and love towards Him will allow you to be RESCUED not only today, but especially one day when you go to heaven.
The Last Supper
Today we are going to focus our lesson on a very important event in the Bible. Have you ever heard of something called, “The Last Supper?”

You have a who, what, when, where and why chart in your RESCUE bag. Take a few minutes and fill in what you already know about The Last Supper. Then, as you continue the lesson (watch the video and read the Gospel) you can add more information to your chart.

We are going to focus on two parts of this lesson from The Last Supper.
1.     Serving others
2.     Building our relationship with Christ

What do you think it means when someone says they like to “serve” other people?

Do you think serving other people is something anyone can do?

Give several examples of how you have served others or how others have served you? Take this drawing from your RESCUE bag and fill in different ways you can follow / serve Jesus.

The Last Supper - Season 1 Episode 10

You can also watch on your regular TV
if you have YouTube on the TV
Go back to your who, what, when, where and why and fill in anything new you learned.

What do you think it means to say, “I am trying to build my relationship with Jesus?”

What are some ways you can build your relationship with God? Take the color sheet and color everything. On a blank sheet of paper write down 4-5 things you can do regularly to help build your relationship with God. Hang these where you can see them to remind you of your relationship with Christ.
Snack Time
Making Bread
Today’s Gospel Reading is from John 13: 1 -20 can be read while the bread is baking.

Go back to your who, what, when, where and why and fill in anything new you learned.

Today we are talking about serving others. What did Jesus do for the disciples to show everyone how important it is to serve others.

Wow! How amazing is this! Jesus, the only perfect man in the world, the only man to never sin washed the feet of the disciples to show us how important it is to serve others. That is so amazing!!! Does this make you want to go out and serve other people?

Well, today is the last day of VBS. Be sure to tell God thank you for such an amazing week. Ask Him for strength going forward to try to build a relationship with Christ. Also, be sure to give Him thanks for RESCUING each of us when things aren’t going well.
