Volunteer of the Week
Kathy Amenson is our Volunteer of the Week !

Green Bay Botanical Garden started as a dream to create a community garden for everyone to enjoy and first welcomed visitors into its doors in 1996. Of the Garden’s 47 acres, 23.5 acres are developed with lush gardens, outstanding architecture and peaceful woods which set the stage for a horticultural adventure through plants that thrive in the Upper Midwest. Both children and adults gather to enjoy a variety of educational programs and year-round special events that feature a wonderful mix of gardening, cultural and family activities, including the Garden’s popular outdoor concerts and WPS Garden of Lights.

Green Bay Botanical Garden strives to connect people with plants. Kathy Amenson helps the Garden do just that by volunteering with their horticulture team to help grow and maintain the Garden throughout the year. Kathy, along with the rest of the horticulture volunteers, works hard throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons to make sure the Garden is in the best condition for visitors to enjoy. She helps plant, maintain and clean up the gardens every year. Kathy does this while bringing her passion for people, the grounds and plants every Tuesday morning. Not only does the Garden benefit from her assistance in prepping for WPS Garden of Lights and work in the gardens, but so do the people in our community.

Kathy’s impact creates an awesome experience for fellow volunteers and staff! This is seen through her actions of welcoming new volunteers, her desire to learn, her willingness to be a sounding board for ideas, and her hard work and passion for creating a beautiful, refreshing garden for people of all ages. As a veteran volunteer at the Garden, Kathy goes out of her way to welcome new volunteers and takes them under her wing. Kathy takes on this leadership role to ensure no one is left behind in the Garden, especially on very hot, humid days and makes sure that everyone is accounted for. Kathy has truly become family at Green Bay Botanical Garden. Kathy’s attitude and enthusiasm are contagious. Kathy’s positivity and passion touch every single staff member, volunteer and guest she comes into contact with. Tuesday mornings without her wouldn’t be the same!

Thank you, Kathy, for your dedication to ensuring the Green Bay Botanical Garden is able to connect people with plants!
