WPS Volunteer Awards
2019 WPS Volunteer Award nominations are open!
The Volunteer Center of Brown County is pleased to once again host the community's largest event recognizing the impact that volunteers have on our community! Made possible by event sponsor Wisconsin Public Service, along with the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation and our eight generous award sponsors – Aon, Bellin Health, Constellation, The George F. Kress Foundation, Georgia Pacific, Green Bay Packers Give Back, Morgan Stanley and United Healthcare – this event celebrates volunteers and highlights the work they do to assist nonprofits in our area to fulfill their missions.

Why take the time to submit a nomination?
It’s a powerful way to honor the impact that a person or group is having in the community! Each individual nominee and two representatives of group nominations will be our guests at the Awards Breakfast, which will take place on  Thursday, April 18, 2019 , at the KI Convention Center. All nominees will be recognized at the event.

Recipients of the awards and runners-up will receive cash prizes of  $1,000  and  $500  respectively that they can donate to the nonprofit organization of their choice. The youth recipient and runner-up will receive the award amounts as scholarships.
Submitting a nomination creates greater awareness within our community of the organization where the volunteer gives their time and energy. The deadline for nominations is  March 1, 2019 .

The nominee may also be selected by the Volunteer Center as the “Volunteer of the Week” (which runs weekly in the  Press-Gazette ) or submitted for regional and state awards following the event.

Volunteer of the Week
The Film Green Bay Board of Directors are our Volunteers of the Week!

The board members at  Film Green Bay  devote hundreds of hours each year to bring more film, and more culture, to the Greater Green Bay Area. The board provides educational activities to encourage growth of appreciation for film, workshops and information for filmmakers, coordination of a database of resources for filmmakers, and opportunities for film screenings yearly at the Green Bay Film Festival.

Beyond this, board members put on workshops, coordinate volunteers, and teach young people about film. The board members spend several hundred hours each year on things related to promoting film in Green Bay, and that does not include the Film Festival. As the Festival nears, board members recruit films, work with directors, find many volunteers, screen films, recruit panels, secure screening locations, and so much more. The Film Festival itself requires hundreds and hundreds of volunteer hours. Board members from this
all-volunteer-run organization work year-round.

Film Green Bay is bringing the Art of Independent Film to Northeast Wisconsin. The board’s efforts have been the real motivator to providing this tremendous service to Green Bay. Each of the members is extremely passionate and devotes much time to encouraging the arts.

Thank you, Film Green Bay Board of Directors, for your work to raise up the arts in our community!
