Delaney Wahl is our Volunteer of the Week!
Delaney Wahl's involvement in the foundation that was started as a result of her diagnosis of
Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma, known as EHE, has addressed the needs of EHE patients for research into a very rare cancer that currently has no cure.
She has been involved in the EHE Foundation's efforts since inception in 2015.
Delaney serves as both the face of the EHE Foundation that began in the Unites States, but now has counterparts in England and Australia and as a tireless worker for many fundraising efforts like 5Ks, banquets, golf tournaments, and t-shirt sales. She also does public speaking for the organization and serves as a support mentor for other EHE patients for the support arm of the foundation. In addition to the public speaking and mentoring, Delaney helps organize, setup and cleanup the events and does design, inventory, packing and mailing for the t-shirt sales that are a part of their fundraising efforts. She is the inspiration and reason for the existence of the EHE Foundation.
Delaney's involvement in the foundation has resulted in about one million dollars being raised for the research work of Dr. Ruben of Cleveland Clinic in Ohio specifically for EHE research. Additionally, other patients have become a part of the foundation to be both informed and supported. All EHE patients benefit from the research funded by the EHE Foundation's fundraising efforts. It also allows more EHE patients to be part of clinical trials.
Delaney is a senior in high school and is an inspiring young woman. If you sat and talked with her, you would never know that she has a cancer with no cure, at this time. She does not let her cancer diagnosis slow her down. Instead of being a victim, Delaney has become a tenacious advocate for finding a cure for EHE. Delaney works to change her situation and the situation of others who struggle with the same disease instead of letting the disease define how she lives her life. She is an influential role model for other students to become active agents in their own lives.
Thank you, Delaney, for being a warrior involved in fighting for an important cause!

Pals Program Mentors - Ongoing
Volunteer mentors spend time (2-3 times per month) in a recreational or learning activity with a child, age 3 or older, that has been referred by Brown County Child Protective Services. Matches are based on compatibility and can continue for as long as both parties are interested or until the youth is eighteen. They currently have a lengthy waiting list of boys and girls ages 3-17. Need spotlight: They have two brothers, ages 6 and 9, on the far west side of Brown County, who are in need of a positive, consistent adult role model.
