Volunteer of the Week
The Volunteer Board of Green Bay Sail & Paddle are our Volunteers of the Week !

Green Bay Sail & Paddle (GBSP) was formed to create opportunities for area youth, adults, and families, regardless of means and abilities, to safely enjoy sail and paddle sports on the waters of the bay of Green Bay. There are many health and wellness benefits of sailing including increased muscle strength and endurance, cardiovascular fitness, increased mental wellness, stress reliever, improved concentration and communication skills. With an increased need for STEM based curriculum, GBSP uses a curriculum that focuses on science, technology, engineering and math using a hands-on learning experience for those that participate.

The Board for Green Bay Sail & Paddle is the driving force for the organization. Studies have shown that there is a need for our community to be more physically active, however, some people in our community cannot afford to take sailing lessons. For those, GBSP provides scholarships. GBSP has provided free and discounted classes in the past to both individuals and organizations like the Boys & Girls Club, Curative Connections, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and more. They have seen first-hand what a difference that learning to sail made in their participants' lives.

The Green Bay Sail & Paddle Board is a very hands-on and active board. They not only handle strategic planning, program policy, practice and promote Safesport training, but also marketing, fundraising, as well as assisting on the beach with classes. A majority of the board is made up of sailors who have a passion for the sport and want to encourage others. Many of the board members have been with GBSP since the beginning. They attend monthly board meetings, weekly committee meetings, work expo booths at special events on the weekends, help with volunteer recruitment and so much more.

Thank you, Volunteer Board of Green Bay Sail & Paddle, for providing a hands-on learning experience for those that sail on the waters of the bay of Green Bay!
