The
S
econd Grade Service Stars are our Volunteers of the Week
!
At Jackson School, the second graders are learning with a purpose. Through their activities, students choose and serve a special community group each month. These groups range from the elderly to the young and the service requires the students to have a hands-on involvement. These “star-studded” second graders have made Valentines and cookies for a senior living center, helped those less fortunate during the holiday season, contributed to the “Give a Kid a Coat Drive," made Earth Day bags to be given out at local coffee shops, and much more! Jackson School second grade teachers set-up and supervise, however, it is the students who are the “servers.”
At times, second graders could be perceived as too young to make a difference in their community, however, these second graders are putting that to rest! They are truly making a difference, not only in their community, but also in their school. The second graders are also seen helping and comforting younger children in the halls and on the playground. It is evident that the Second Grade Service Stars are making a positive impact that goes beyond the walls of their school.
Thank you, Second Grade Service Stars, for truly making a difference!
