VOLLEYBALL

Our Varsity Volleyball Team finished its season this weekend. Our ladies lost a hard-fought match to Christian Family Academy in the Conference Tournament Championship. We concluded the season with a record of 10-2. Thank you to Eddie Bingham and Donna Russell for your leadership throughout the season!

Big congratulations to Asia Ar! Asia made the All-Conference Team and was also named Player of the Year in the Conference. Congratulations to everyone involved on a fantastic season.

The JV volleyball team won the conference championship over the weekend! Our ladies defeated Christian Family Academy in the Championship match in straight sets. We concluded our season with a record of 10-1. Thank you to Buffey Smith for guiding the team through the season, and congratulations to everyone associated with the JV Team on their Championship season.

BASKETBALL

Basketball season begins this week. Any athletes who need to access the Physical Form may download it from here. All four of our teams will be in competition. Be sure to check the school calendar for updated days and times for our games. Our spectator policy for basketball will be the same as it was for volleyball. Each athlete will be allowed to have one spectator attend their game. All seniors will be allowed to have two spectators present. All fans must wear a mask while in the gym.

As we move into basketball season, I wanted to share with everyone the thinking behind our athletes wearing masks while playing. Romans 13:1 says- “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” On Nov. 25th, Governor Cooper put out a more extensive mask mandate that says our athletes must wear a mask while playing. That mandate has been extended a couple of times and is still in effect right now. I know there will be teams we play that will choose not to wear a mask. We are going to continue to ask them to wear a mask, but I do not anticipate that request will be granted. We want to honor God in everything we do and believe that Romans tells us to comply with the mask mandate.

At Veritas, we will always seek to bring glory to God in everything we do. Thank you for helping us do that through athletics.

In Christ,
Lee Burgess [email protected]
