DR. WOODS RECEIVES NATIONAL PAIDEIA CENTER CERTIFICATION

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it is a privilege to be part of the National Paideia Center’s recognition of our Headmaster, Dr. Robert Woods. The National Paideia Center is a venerable organization that has contributed much to the resurgence of classical and Christian education in the United States. Dr. Woods is an expert on their founder, Mortimer Adler, who was the originator of the Great Books series. Dr. Woods’ recently published book (Mortimer Adler: The Paideia Way of Classical Education) details the story of Mortimer Adler.
Dr. Woods has now been nationally recognized for his expertise upon receiving the honor of Individual Accreditation by the National Paideia Center. This award is for knowledge, publications and service in the calling of classical education, a unique accomplishment in our region. We encourage all of the Veritas community to join us in our congratulations. We are truly thankful for Dr. Woods and his commitment to the mission of Veritas Christian Academy.

NEW BLOG POST: "TEACHING THE VIRTUE OF PAYING ATTENTION"

"A Classical Christian school is often a counter-cultural place. We are seeking to instill knowledge and wisdom where other schools seek to bombard with data and information. We daily strive to cultivate habits that compliment Kingdom virtues instead of worldly dispositions and desires..."

PTF BRICK CHALLENGE RESULTS

The Grammar and Logic students did an amazing job collecting change and filling their brick boxes. A total of $3,583.59 was collected for the Grammar School building. Great Job! All classes will be receiving a brick on the honor walk.

The Grammar School class raising the most money is Mrs. Cipro's 3rd Grade Class with a total of $273.41!

The Logic School classes raising the most money are the 6th and 8th grades. Each class raised over $400 and their totals were within a handful of change from each other! These grades raised enough funds to each receive a large brick on the honor walk!

The Rhetoric School challenge is still underway to see which House will raise the most money to support the Grammar School.

Congratulations to our winning classes, and thank you for your generosity! The PTF looks forward to honoring our winning classes with something special. More details to come...!
PTF LOVE OFFERING

Dear Veritas Community,

It is with great joy that the Veritas PTF is once again coordinating this year’s Christmas Love Offering.

The program was created to help you -- our busy families -- simplify holiday school gift giving, while at the same time, provide a meaningful gift for the faculty and staff. Through the years, it has become a cherished tradition.

Here’s how the Love Offering works:
The PTF will be collecting monetary donations and whatever has been sent in will be distributed evenly to all staff and faculty. PTF elves will actually take the checks around to each classroom. It’s a very special time for the students and teachers.

Please click here to learn more or to give toward the PTF Love Offering online by DECEMBER 13.

We wish you a blessed Holiday Season!

NEWS FROM THE PTF CLOTHES CLOSET

THE PTF Clothes Closet will be having a Winter Clothing Drive and Sale in January….stay tuned for more details.

As the season changes and the cooler temperatures approacH, The Clothes Closet is in need of outerwear (fleeces, sweatshirts, sweaters), long sleeve polo shirts and dresses, and pants. As you are cleaning out your children’s uniform clothing, the Clothes Closet would love to have any gently used clothing your child no longer needs. You may drop them off any time at school. There is a designated basket in front of the closet for donations or a drive up style drop off may be available in January if possible.

We aren’t giving shopping credit for donations this year, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to offer this again in the future. However, there will be sale prices during the winter sale.

Anyone interested in helping with pick-up of donations, sorting, washing, and/or stocking donated clothing, please contact:
Julie Wood (828) 273-9589 or  juliefwood@yahoo.com
