Veritas Christian Academy
The Voice of Veritas Newsletter
August 31, 2020

Of the many ways the global pandemic has impacted all of our lives, it has been on the economic level. Many families have seen a total disruption of their personal finances. Some families have been less directly affected, but affected nonetheless. I say this to share that even Veritas has been hurt by the current national economy. We saw a near standstill to fundraising over the past few months. Most of the hold on fundraising was due to our desire to be sensitive to how our community had been adversely affected.

Now that the new Grammar school building is finished and joyously being used, we are compelled to return to raising funds. As we all know, grace is a gift. We are asking for you to give to the Act of Grace as God graces you to give. We have received a few gifts over the past few months and we are going to begin placing the Act of Grace thermometer in our Monday newsletter. We will also be sharing a few unique fundraising endeavors for the balance of this year that we trust will be ways for everyone within our community to give.

Please pray this prayer of thanksgiving with me for all that God has done, is doing, and is yet to do with The Act of Grace:

Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us. We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side. We thank you for setting us at tasks that demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments that satisfy and delight us. We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone. Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of his Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame temptation; for his dying, through which he conquered death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom. Grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know Christ and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things. Amen.

"What do I do when my child wakes up ‘not feeling well’?"

For Covid-19, there are several different symptoms that your child could present with. According to NC Health department, we are accessing specifically for the following:
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • New cough (for students with chronic allergic/ asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

If your child has any of the above or other unexplainable symptoms that you are concerned about (some examples...sore throat, nausea/diarrhea, onset of intense headache), please keep them home. Call the school and communicate that you are keeping them home. Google classroom can be an option (not mandated) for even a short absence. If you need assistance on assessing the symptoms and navigating the next step, please call and ask to speak with the school nurse.

For Car Line- Thank you for your efforts in the car line to have your children ready for screening in the mornings. When possible, having the windows down, arms exposed and masks on allows for smoother process. Your patience during this time is so appreciated.

We are happy to inform the Veritas family and staff of our most recent addition to the Board of Trustees, Rev. Anthony Craver. Anthony is a well-known Hendersonville pastor. He is married to Alexa and is father of two recent Veritas graduates, Michael (2016) and Daniella (2018). He holds a Masters of Divinity from Liberty University and a Masters of Ministry Organizational Leadership from Southwestern Christian University. He is the lead pastor of Upward Christian Fellowship for 23 years and is Assistant Superintendent of Cornerstone Conference which oversees and leads 150 churches, providing oversight for over 400 ministers.
Anthony first heard of VCA in 1998 and has been a long term supporter of Classical and Christian Education. He is a proven leader and we are most grateful that he has agreed to serve on the Board as we continue to advance the mission of Veritas. Please join us in welcoming Anthony to this new role and remember him and all of the Board members as you pray for our school.

Dear Parents - Please find the login information for FACTS (previously RenWeb) on the quicklinks page of our website, found on the Communications page:

For folks who do not know, this is where you can access all of your student information including schedules and grades!

One of our parents had a good recommendation for displaying pick-up signs, so we thought we would pass it along!

"I wanted to share a great idea for the carline. I thought this would make it easier for the teachers to see the name cards. We used a sheet protector and a pants hanger. It also keeps the name card from getting bent and wrinkled!"
