Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) Loudoun looks forward to supporting this year's Loudoun County Fair! Loudoun residents are invited to attend to support our youth and join the festivities.
The Loudoun County Fair is an important event for our VCE Loudoun 4-H youth, who participate throughout the week by showing and auctioning animals, sharing their creative accomplishments, preparing meals to fundraise for future 4-H projects, and more.
VCE Loudoun staff and volunteers will also attend the fair each day to share information about programs and services and lead fun, family-friendly activities. Visit our social media accounts for updates!

This 10-week program provides adults with developmental and
cognitive disabilities the tools that they need to better their
nutrition. They will learn healthy habits, basic cooking skills, and
the basics of a healthy diet. This is a free program: all program
materials and light refreshments will be provided to attendees

Real Money. Real World. Simulation
In this hands-on financial literacy simulation, students step into the role of a young adult and make real-world budgeting decisions based on a career, income, and family situation. Guided by Loudoun County’s Financial Literacy Educator, participants learn how choices about housing, transportation, food, savings, and other expenses impact their financial well-being. The experience helps students build practical money management skills while exploring the connection between education, careers, and future financial success.

Volunteers Needed
Help students build real-world money management skills! Volunteers staff a single spending station (such as housing, transportation, or food) and help students make budgeting decisions using provided materials. No financial expertise is required—an orientation and booth-specific training will be provided before the event.

SAVE Program Applications Open | |

Applications are open for the Student Ambassadors for Virginia's Environment (SAVE) Program until Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This program is supported by Keep Virginia Beautiful and empowers Virginia high school juniors and seniors to grow as environmental leaders.
Each ambassador will build skills, earn volunteer service hours, and be recognized as a youth leader through working within their community. Visit the SAVE Program website to apply and learn more.

This year's Virginia 4-H State Congress was held at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia on June 16-19. Each year, 4-H Congress features life-skill development educational activities, experiences through Great Summer Showcase, and competition that will support 4-H project work.

Master Gardeners led an educational workshop with Gathering Springs Farm and Chrysalis Vineyards where they planted herb container gardens that will later be harvested and added to various dishes in vineyard's kitchen! |

Small Ruminate Fecal Egg Count | | On June 18, 2026, Small Ruminant Fecal Egg Count Training provided information on small ruminant parasites and hands-on practice with conducting fecal egg counts. Thank you to Dr. Nicole Kopetzky for leading the training and the Virginia Tech Middleburg Agricultural Research and Extension Center for hosting! |

How to Plan, Shop, and Save on Groceries | | The Ashburn Library hosted a How-To Festival where Abbey Burnett taught others How to Plan, Shop, and Save on Groceries! Together they explored practical strategies for meal planning, smart grocery shopping, stretching food dollars, and reducing food waste. Thank you to all participants for the great questions, thoughtful conversations, and enthusiasm for making healthy eating more affordable. We hope everyone left feeling inspired and equipped with new tips to save money and make the most of every grocery trip! |
