Note from the VCNP President
Dear VCNP Members:

As health care providers, the last few weeks have been challenging for all of us with more challenges to come. I would like to thank each and every one of you for continuing to care for your patients while we are faced with a new health care challenge in our nation and in our world. I know there is a lot of information available on how to assess your patients for potential virus symptoms and how to prevent the spread. I encourage you to follow the advice on social distancing realizing that for many of us that is just not possible as we work closely with patients.

We know this pandemic is placing considerable demands and stressors on NPs. We’d like to know how you are managing stress, any steps your place of employment is implementing that could benefit others, what questions you have and how VCNP can support you during this uncertain time. VCNP is following the White House’s recommendations about gatherings larger than 10 people and working with regional presidents to cancel, postpone or make virtual any upcoming meetings or conferences. Please watch your regional communications for details or contact your regional president.

News about COVID-19 is changing rapidly, and we want to thank all of you who are on the front lines treating patients. We are providing some resources to help you take care of yourselves and your families during this unprecedented time.

During difficult times, it is easy to forget self-care. As nurses, we know the importance of taking care of oneself, but so often we neglect to care for ourselves. Please be sure to get adequate rest, continue to exercise and eat healthy. Thank you to everyone who continues to place patient care first, especially those of you who are balancing work with kids or additional family members at home. Be safe and be well! Please let us know how we can continue to support you.
