Private Parties

Winter Glitter is a school function but is often preceded and/or followed by parties, typically planned by Vanguard parents per grade level. We suggest that parents communicate with the parents hosting the party and use their own judgment regarding their child’s attendance. Private parties are not considered school functions, and therefore, school personnel will not be involved in the supervision of these activities.

Special Notes to Parents | Expected Behavior

The dance is a safe and drug, alcohol, and nicotine-free celebration for all of our students and guests. We will be reminding our students that Vanguard takes a strong position against the illegal use of drugs/alcohol/nicotine and will not tolerate it at any school gathering.

We appreciate parents discussing expected behavior with their student(s) prior to the event. We want to be models of good behavior for formal location hosts. Students should remember to thank chaperones/hosts for the event and remember to use their best manners.

Rules & Behavior

• Once a student or guest of the dance arrives at the dance, leaving and re-entry is not allowed. This includes going to the attendee’s car.
• Students are to remain in the designated dance area where the dance is being held (no wandering).
• All attendees must sign in to the dance.
• Vanguard School rules are clear. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted, and their use will not be tolerated.
• All dance attendees must take a breathalyzer test upon entry and when leaving the event. 
• Attendees are reminded that appropriate dancing and attire is a Vanguard expectation.
• Congregating is not allowed in the parking area of the event.
• It is expected that students may only leave with their parents or an authorized driver arranged by the family. At the end of the event, non-driving students must wait at the dance entry for pickup. Driving students must go to their car upon leaving the event and leave the event parking area. 
• No picking up other students or crowd surfing during dances. 
• Song requests are not allowed at the dance. Students are expected not to call out profane words to clean versions of the song.

High School students are allowed to invite outside of Vanguard students to Winter Glitter.

• Each non-Vanguard guest is required to fill out and follow the procedure for the VCPS Dance Guest Permission Form.
• Guest Approval Forms will be available in the front office, FACTS Resource Documents, and HERE.
• Vanguard students are responsible for the guest and must accompany them during the entire event.
• Be sure and familiarize yourself with the form to ensure your guest is approved to attend the dance in a timely manner. The form MUST BE submitted to Vanguard from the other student's school.

The Dance Guest form is due on or before

Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 4:00 pm, from the guest's school, including proper identification.

No walk-in or late forms will be accepted.

The non-Vanguard student's ID will be requested upon entry.
