March 29th

Oak Park High School

9am - 2pm

To RSVP and request further details please email Heidi.Ortloff@vcrcd.org.

Student Beach Day

Santa Paula students enjoyed a day at the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center earlier this month. Students were able to watch a satellite launch from the shoreline, identify native plants, and watch tide pool animals.

This field trip was funded by the California Coastal Commission Whale Tail grant program. We would like to thank the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center for providing an enjoyable and educational experience.

Monarch School Presentation

A local Camarillo elementary school invited VCRCD to present to their students on the importance of local pollinators, including the monarch butterfly. Students were able to create seed bombs to help spread native plants at home while also learning ways to help monarch butterflies.

Wildfire Events

The Ventura County Wildfire Collaborative held two successful wildfire education town halls in Ventura and Ojai. Residents were able to learn from wildfire professionals about ways to prepare their households for wildfire.

We would like to thank our partners, Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council, the Ventura County Fire Department, Southern California Edison, and the Department of Insurance for helping to make these events a success. These events were funded through CAL FIRE and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Fire Prevention Program as part of the California Climate Investments Program

Thank You to Volunteers

Thank you to Marisol Gonzalez and the Fillmore Youth Conservation Corps for helping VCRCD pull weeds at the King & King Ranch! Marisol and her team weeded around native hedgerow plants and now, with the weeds gone, the native plants are looking good heading into Spring!
