Families sometimes assume that attending a much larger high school gives a student-athlete a better chance of being recruited, but that is no longer true! College recruiting today depends much more on academic eligibility, quality film, a strong recruiting profile, proactive communication, relationships, and consistent follow-through. That is where VCS can provide a real advantage. Our student-athletes are known personally and receive individualized help using SportsRecruits to share film, communicate with coaches, track interest, and identify realistic college opportunities. In some graduating classes, as many as 20% of VCHS students have continued into collegiate athletics.
At a high school of more than 2,000 students, even a strong athletics department must divide its time and attention among hundreds and hundreds of athletes. VCS offers a very different experience. Our high school classes average 13 or fewer students, and college-bound athletes have personal access to their coaches, our athletic director, our SportsRecruits program lead, and our college counselor. In today’s recruiting environment, that individualized attention matters far more than simply attending a large school with greater name recognition. For an athlete with the talent and work ethic to compete at the next level, VCS provides a better opportunity to receive the academic preparation, recruiting guidance, film support, communication help, and consistent follow-through necessary to find the right collegiate opportunity.
