Fourteen Danville Youth Health Equity Leadership Institute (Danville YHELI) students served as youth ambassadors who welcomed approximately 1,500 students and families to George Washington High School’s (GWHS) Open House on August 6.

Virginia Joins
Practice Sights Retention Collaborative & Data Management System
|
|
Virginia is the twentieth state to join the
Practice Sights Retention Collaborative and Data Management System
, administered by the University of North Carolina Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research.
The
Practice Sights
Retention Collaborative & Data Management System
is a survey system that will allow the Virginia Primary Care Office (PCO), housed in the Office of Health Equity (OHE) and stakeholders like Federally-Qualified Health Centers to understand what is and is not effective to improve recruitment and retention of providers serving vulnerable and underserved communities.
To add context, a primary role of the Virginia PCO, is to increase the number of health care providers serving vulnerable populations in safety net facilities and underserved areas of the Commonwealth.
Practice Sights
gathers information from obligated providers and their employers on both the facilities and communities in which they work. Importantly, providers are surveyed after their service obligation is complete, allowing us to understand the factors that lead to long-term retention of providers in underserved areas.
Some obligated providers and their employers may have already have received surveys, while others may in the near future. We feel it is important to inform stakeholders that
completing the survey is voluntary and has no effect on participation in recruitment and retention programs
. We expect the annual surveys to take approximately 10 minutes to complete, while the benefits to safety net providers and the communities they serve will last forever.
