RICHMOND, Virginia — Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA) President David Manley presented the 2022 President’s Award to Christy T. Morton at the 2022 Winter Membership Meeting held in Richmond
Morton formerly served as the Senior Vice President of External Affairs for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and recently accepted a position at Two Capitols Consulting where she will continue to champion for Commonwealth causes.
Morton was responsible for managing VEDP’s relationships with the General Assembly, the Administration and Virginia’s congressional delegation. She also led VEDP’s external relationships with local and regional economic development organizations, trade associations and other key stakeholders.
“Christy’s drive has been unparalleled,” Manley said during the awards ceremony at VEDA’s Winter Members Meeting in Richmond earlier this month. “Her insight and value offered are incomparable. Christy’s friendship and sense of humor have helped cool down my natural response instincts on more than one occasion, and I consider her a valued confidante.”
Manley further touted Morton’s passion for Virginia and commitment to ensuring all regions in the Commonwealth succeed.
Previously, Morton was the Executive Director of the Virginia Rural Center and served as Deputy Director of External Affairs and Policy Development for Gov. Bob McDonnell.
Morton earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Christopher Newport University and is a graduate of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at University of Virginia.
