A Message from Our CEO
This weekend marks the beginning of one the busiest times to travel throughout the United States and beyond. For many of us, beating the traffic on our way to relatives’ homes out of state or making it to the airport on time if we plan to fly are both triumphs worth celebrating.

This time of year, though, I challenge you to think of those in our communities who don’t have the luxury of hopping into their vehicles and driving to see their friends and families during the holidays.

Sincerely,
Martin "Marty" Schwartz
Great News
On Friday, December 14, Exclusive Motor Cars hosted a Car Award Ceremony at their location in Randallstown Maryland where vehicles were awarded to local individuals in need of safe, reliable transportation!

Recipients included:

  • Ms. Kia Banks who needed a vehicle to get to-and-from work at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital, to the market and to keep appointments.
  • Ms. Shawnta Royster who works as a sales advisor for Heritage MileOne Toyota but needed a safe vehicle to transport her four-year-old daughter, Merci.
James Makia, president of Exclusive Motor Cars sharing why he chose to partner with Vehicles for Change. Makia came to the United States 17 years ago from Nigeria and firmly believes that if you're not helping others, you're not moving forward.
At the ceremony, Julian R. Jones, Jr. Baltimore County Councilman, Fourth District (left), presented Martin Schwartz, Vehicles for Change’s president (right), a citation for our organization’s work in the community: more than 6,200 cars donated and 20,000+ lives changed since 1999!
URGENT: Our Roof Needs Repair!
Vehicles for Change is desperately in need of roof repairs. With the unprecedented amount of rain in 2018, our Halethorpe building experienced significant water damage and leaks.

An estimated $150,000 in funds is needed to replace the damaged portion of the roof. Without immediate action, when winter weather begins, this repair will quickly turn into a $500,000 job if the entire roof ends up needing replaced due to further damage.

You can help by giving a gift and sharing our Crowdfunder with family and friends on social media or via email. Your support is greatly appreciated!
This past weekend, Marty visited our Halethorpe garage to check the status of the roof. As you can see, an umbrella was needed both outdoors and in, which threatens the safety of our staff and technicians.
After heavy rain, the waiting room of our Halethorpe garage is virtually unusable.
Recipient Spotlights
At Vehicles for Change, it doesn't just stop at handing over the keys to a vehicle. Here, see Sabrina being shown what to look for the hood of her newly awarded Honda Accord by one of our technicians!
Despite her bright and happy smile, Sabrina has experienced a long, bumpy road full of challenges including having to leave a difficult home life when she was very young, and her younger sister, Marcie, behind.

Sabrina worked as an educator for 30 years before transitioning into a career in healthcare at a hospital in downtown Baltimore. In order to get to-and-from work each day, Sabrina had to rely heavily on friends, neighbors or Transportation Assistance Mobility, a service under Maryland’s Department of Transportation for senior citizens and those with disabilities... Above all else, Frankie is a dedicated father to his sweet 4-year-old son. Frankie works hard to provide for his son, but his daily commute is brutal with two connecting bus rides resulting in a 2.5-3 hour commute each way. Due to the unreliability of the public transit system, Frankie struggles to get to work on time despite leaving early. Not only that, but with the mounting costs of public transit (close to $400/ month), Frankie admitted that taking the bus each day takes a huge toll on his family’s finances... [ Read More HERE ]
