Playground Taking Shape
Work on our combined Hamilton/Van Hise playground is taking shape! When completed in October there will be areas that both schools can call their own! To date on the Hamilton side there are new and expanded areas of asphalt, new basketball hoops, and two areas of shade awnings for those hot days (these shade areas will be shared between schools). These changes are welcome additions to our shared campus!
Student Schedules
Some time on Monday, August 22, the school district will release student schedules for all secondary schools. The release means that you will be able to see your child's schedule in Infinite Campus.

Note that on schedules we only schedule in the first quarter/semester UA classes. Unified Arts classes for future quarters/semester are scheduled as we move through the school year.

Hamilton Middle runs on an eight period day, plus Advisory (homeroom). Students are scheduled into academic classes for five periods each day, and Unified Arts/Music/PE for two periods per day. PE and Music are scheduled for each student during the same period of the day, but meet on alternate days. Students are also scheduled for a full period of lunch/lunch recess. Advisory falls after Period 5 and is 22 minutes in length and functions similar to a homeroom.

See the below link for the Hamilton Period by Period Schedule, noting that the left side is the schedule for the shortened Monday, while the right side is for Tuesday-Friday each week.
Accessing Infinite Campus
Infinite Campus, or IC, is the main data warehouse of your child's educational progress. Downloading the IC app to your phone allows you to see your child's schedule and assigned teachers, grades on assignments, including the designation of "Missing" immediately after the teacher enters the information in their electronic grade book. The same type of notification will arrive to your phone for attendance where you can see immediately if your child has been marked absent or tardy. There are a variety of options in the app's settings for receiving notifications, including choices on the types of notifications you want to receive and those you do not want to receive. To download the IC app to your phone, see the below link, which also includes information on how to configure the appropriate notification settings in the app.
Enrollment Continues
Our official enrollment day was on Thursday, August 18. If you continue to need assistance in completing the enrollment process, please know that between now and when school starts on September 1, our main Hamilton Middle office is here to help! Feel free to stop by Hamilton between the hours of 8am and 2:30pm on business days.
Welcome to all our new Hamilton Families!
Pandemic Protocols Update
There has been a fair amount of information coming to parents and in local media with regard to changes to pandemic mitigation protocols for MMSD schools. Below is a thumbnail of where we stand in MMSD on pandemic protocols, along with a link to the District's webpage with the full information:

Masks Indoors at School and on Buses: Highly recommended, but not required.

Physical Distancing: No longer required as per CDC guidelines.

Procedures When Feeling Ill: Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to test. If the test is negative, and they don’t have fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, and they are able and willing to wear a mask, they may stay in school. If they decline testing, they will be asked to go home for a minimum of 24 hours, and symptoms must be resolving, or they receive an alternative diagnosis before they can return to school. In addition, students returning to school who have had covid-19, but who are now symptom-free and who have tested negative, are asked to continue to wear a mask across days 6-10 as measured from their first day of having covid.
