More Outdoor Learning Spaces Added to Campus

It all starts with an idea and a quick outline....

followed by the work of some determined staff members and parent volunteers.

With the shoveling completed to the specified depth....

the trucks show up with the delivery of materials.

And not just one....

but two learning circles emerge!

Musical Guest

Choir and General Music teacher Margaret Jenks recently invited singer/songwriter Tony Memmel to campus to visit her class and to perform for our entire 8th grade student body. Tony was born missing part of his left arm, and plays the guitar really well. Along the way, he shared strategies for building resilience. April was Limb Difference Awareness Month, and it was great having Tony Memmel join us, a person who has made a career out of encouraging people to overcome obstacles (visible and not visible). He works with children around the world who have various limb differences and who are differently abled. The buttons below are links to very short videos of Tony playing guitar and singing with students. A big thank you to Tony for joining us and to Margaret Jenks for organizing the visit!

Student Work Permit Changes Coming

The Department of Workforce Development's Equal Rights Division has developed a new online work permit application tool. The Division carefully considered the lessons of the past few years, when pandemic restrictions made it nearly impossible for some minors to obtain work permits and decided to pursue an online application that would be available to the parents of minors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer, tablet, smartphone, or similar device.

The new online application is live now. A parent can access the site using these instructions. Payment is made directly to the department through the application, using a credit or debit card or by ACH direct withdrawal. Once the permit application process is complete, the Department mails a paper copy of the permit directly to the employer.

The old system, where students come into school to obtain work permits, will continue to be operational until June 30, 2023, after which schools will no longer be a hub for work permits.
