A Shorter Newsletter This Week
We were experiencing some technical issues with the online platform that we use to create our weekly Hamilton Newsletter, and were not able to access the system until today. As such, a somewhat abbreviated version of the newsletter for this week.
Robot Soccer! Eighth grade students in Ms. Slovik's Technology class recently engineered and built machines for the purpose of playing soccer. Eighth grade student August A. pulled together and edited video footage of the ensuing soccer tournament, which can be viewed at the below link. Great work Tech students, and great work August!
Interested in Being a Paid AVID Tutor at Hamilton?
AVID tutors are cleared to come into schools! AVID tutors support our AVID Elective students who are underrepresented in higher education, through the facilitation of the AVID 10-step tutorial process to ensure students are thinking critically and problem-solving using inquiry. Additionally, AVID tutors serve as role models for AVID Elective students. The AVID tutor would join Hamilton's AVID classroom during the 2nd and 3nd hours on Tues/Thurs each week. For more information and to apply, see the below link. If applying, please also let AVID teacher Ms. Sacks know that you are doing so by emailing her at tsacks@madison.k12.wi.us.
Parent-Teacher Spring Conferences
Our Hamilton Advisory teachers are currently organizing parent-teacher spring conferences. Not all families will be invited to a conference as the focus in spring is on students for whom a topic-specific conversation may be needed. That said, if you do not hear from your child's teacher about scheduling a conference but still want to have one, please contact your child's Advisory teacher. These conferences are officially scheduled for the evening of February 10, and all day on Friday, February 11. The format for conferences will once again be virtual through the use of Zoom.
