Eighth Grade Chromebook Swap
MMSD wants all 8th grade students who are heading off to an MMSD high school in the fall to have a new Chromebook (CB) & charger to see them through high school. The CBs come with an attached plastic cover with a blue Property of MMSD tag. They are the newer version of the Dell 3100 that students have now.

When? Students attending school on our campus will be exchanging their CB and charger during a day they are here in person. All Virtual Students: Students attending school on the virtual cohort can come to our Hamilton Library on the following dates: 8am to 4pm, Monday, May 17, and again on Monday, May 24; and on our pupil-free day on Friday, May 28 from 8-12. Note: Any virtual students who are returning to an in-person cohort can swap their CB and charger on their first day back in our building.

What will students do? Students will need to save to their Google Drive anything they have stored directly on their device, and bring their charger AND chromebook to exchange. Students will not receive a new CB if they do not have both their CB & charger.
Bus Route Error:
On Tuesday morning this week we experienced an issue with one of our incoming buses not running its normal route. We were told that a new driver missed part of their assigned route. The district worked with Madison Metro Transit to help resolve this issue in an effort to avoid a repeat occurrence.

If a similar event does happen in the future, impacted students and parents can call Madison Metro Transit's customer service number at 266-4466 as soon as they become aware of a problem. Madison Metro Transit will then either send another bus or turn around the bus that missed stops. A Madison Metro Transit road supervisor will also be sent to the area to try to make contact with students waiting at stops so they know the bus is still coming. The sooner Madison Metro Transit is aware of an issue, the better.

It's a Picnic on Hamilton Beach!
With the weather warming up a bit, we are now beginning to have lunch outside picnic style on "Hamilton Beach"! We will continue to have opportunities for students to eat outside for the remainder of the current school year, weather permitting. We hope to include some opportunities for eating outside once we get through to a post-pandemic world in future school years.

Photo Finish
During the 2019-2020 school year, a tragic accident took the lives of Hamilton eighth grade student Jocelyn Gannon and her mother Amy. As part of honoring the memory of Jocelyn, several students from the class of 2020 painted the door to her locker. In addition, the Jocelyn Gannon Spirit Award was created through a generous donation from Jocelyn's father, Mike. A plaque on the wall above the locker will hold the names of each year's 8th grade award recipient. Recipients also receive a memorial award and $1,000 to help them pursue their dreams. Below are photos of the locker, plaque, and award.
