Lucky You!
Yep, two Hamilton Headlines newsletters in one week--A dream come true! This is just a short newsletter focused mostly on an important District update.
Update on Our Return to In-Person Schooling
As you may know, there has been an announcement from the school district. Here is the skinny on that announcement:

We are back to in-person schooling on Monday. The district will continue to assess the current situation around covid infection rates and staff member availability and provide additional weekly updates as necessary. The announcement from the district seems to indicate that future closings could be limited to individual schools. The exact wording that the district used was, "...it is plausible to expect, a school or a classroom may briefly close, based on staffing levels in a particular building."
Testing Clinic at Hamilton
We have a free covid testing clinic currently up and running at Hamilton. Families may access the clinic by coming to Door #7, 8am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. In addition the Hamilton clinic will be open this weekend, 8am-4:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Door #7 is located near our Hamilton gym, and faces the Van Hise parking lot (see the photo). You can use the below link to schedule your appointment. The scheduling document can also be completed on a drop-in basis by scanning the QR code posted on Door #7. Once you have arrived on our campus for your test, call the number that is posted on the entrance door, and someone will meet you at your car to conduct the test(s). The clinic offers both rapid and PCR tests as supplies permit.
Help Us to Stay Open
While I am pleased with the district's decision to return to in-person schooling, I do want to let you know that there is a high probability that at times your child will have a substitute teacher. There is also a decent chance that your child may be assigned to a study hall in our cafeteria, LMC, gym, or other larger space when class coverage is not available. Study hall settings will of course be supervised and appropriate social distancing will be accommodated. We will do everything we can to keep our doors open.

To help us stay open, the district shared some tips in their announcement today. I encourage you to read and follow these suggestions as best as you can. Here is the language from the district:

Many of our families have asked how they can help us ensure a safe, sustainable return to in-person learning. By partnering with us in keeping our schools safe, there are several important ways students and families can help. First, as an additional layer of safety, we strongly encourage students to be tested for COVID-19 prior to their return on Monday. If your student is displaying symptoms or has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, MMSD is offering free tests at several school sites throughout the weekend. Other ways you can help us keep schools safe include:
  • Reviewing district safety mitigation strategies with your students prior to their return;
  • Extending grace and support to our staff members who are supporting safety protocol adherence;
  • Encouraging proper masking and hand washing;
  • Ensuring your student stays home, and gets tested, when sick or showing symptoms;
  • Completing COVID-19 screeners and following screener guidance;
  • Adhering to physical distancing of three feet for students (six feet when eating) when possible;
  • Having your student receive COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters.
