Hamilton Phone/Device Policy 23-24

As you know, Hamilton Middle is in the process of rolling out a new cell phone and device policy for the 23-24 school year. As part of this work, students in Advisory classes at Hamilton recently went through a series of two lessons on consecutive Mondays to provide additional details of the new policy and to give answers to questions that were gathered during the first lesson. The Slideshows for these two Advisory lessons can be accessed at the below links. The Slideshows will also help to answer questions that family members have about the new policy. After viewing the Slideshows, please have a conversation in your home with your child about the new policy.

School Start and End Times for the

2023-2024 School Year

As you may have noticed, the school district announced this week the new start and end times for all schools in MMSD for the 23-24 school year. Beginning with the first day of school on September 1, Hamilton Middle, along with all MMSD middle schools, will have the following start and end times for instruction for each school day:

Monday: 8:40am-2:30pm

Tuesday-Friday: 8:40am-4:10pm

The above times are set by the district and are influenced greatly by two factors. First is the establishment of start and end times that best match the developmental needs of youths of different ages. To this end, elementary schools begin earlier and middle and high schools start later. Second is the transportation needs of thousands of students each school day who rely on district provided bus services while traveling both to and from schools. Creating the transportation schedule is complex and also impacts school start and end times. (Note: Specific bus stop locations will be released in August after enrollment day has been completed.)

If you have questions about the start and end times established by the district, please access the "Let' Talk" link below to register your question and or comment.
