January Principal Update

By: John Burkholder

It is a short week and with our return to work/school just yesterday, my turnaround time for this week's newsletter was only about 24 hours. Yes, I realize that I could have devoted some time over Winter Break to work on this, but before I knew it it was New Year's Day, 2023, and a full slate of football got the best of my attention.

Speaking of the kickoff to 2023, I am sure that at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve that many of you greeted the New Year live and in-person. For me, I have long ago traded late night hours for the peaceful solitude of a morning cup of coffee and the quiet enthusiasm that comes with knowing there is a full day of opportunity in front of me. Thus, while I gave my New Year’s salutation perhaps a few hours late, I did so with all the same heart felt hopes and aspirations for the year ahead as those midnight revelers.

As we say hello to the New Year, I want to extend to you on behalf of our entire Hamilton Middle staff our hopes for a happy and healthy 2023 for all. As a staff, January brings with it a renewed focus on the goals, both individual and school-wide, that we have established for our students for the current school year. As a marker of our work to date with your children this school year, first semester grades will be available for your review sometime shortly after January 20. The end of January is also the beginning of the second semester, a time during which we often see the most growth in our students. As mentioned in this space last month, January also marks the beginning of our preparation for the 2023-2024 school year.

Once again, I want to wish our entire Hamilton Middle community a happy New Year! I look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

Multico Visit

The Multico Theater group from West High visited Hamilton Middle on the day before winter break, entertaining our seventh grade students at a performance assembly that at times had our own students joining in to show off their dance moves!

It takes a lot, more than just snow and darkness, to keep the Hamilton Ultimate Club from meeting!

It takes most students a day or two to get their sea legs back after returning from Winter Break. As such, teachers ease students back into the routine of school and learning!
