Early Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences
Early spring parent-teacher conferences are on their way.  Conferences for this time of year focus on students who may be struggling in class or who may have attendance or any other type of concern. The official designated hours for these conferences are Thursday evening, February 11, 5:30-7:30pm, and all day on Friday, February 12 (pupil-free day). Teachers will be contacting families to set up virtual conferences, and again will not be contacting all parents. If you are not contacted by a teacher for a conference but you would still like to have one, please feel free to contact your child's Advisory teacher to arrange for a meeting.

We are proud of our students!
MSCR Programming Opportunities
MSCR is offering a number of social and enrichment opportunities for students this year. As we look toward another quarter of virtual school, please encourage your child if interested to check out the options that can be accessed through the code or link that has been shared in students' Google Classrooms.

For questions, please email our Hamilton MSCR Coordinator, Kris Anderson.
New Google Classroom Invites Are on The Way
As we begin the second semester, students and parents should be on the lookout for email invitations to new Google Classrooms. Many students will be starting a new Encore class on Monday, for which there will be Google Classroom invitations. In addition, many teachers of year-long classes will be starting fresh for second semester with new Google Classrooms, which will generate invitations as well.
Reset-Reconnect-Resume
The Reset-Reconnect-Resume section of this newsletter will be a feature most weeks moving forward in an effort to keep all families informed around the work that we are doing to prepare for the eventual addition of an in-person schooling option for our students. Remember, Reset is the work we are doing at Hamilton to prepare for an in-person return. Reconnect is the work we are doing to connect students to each other in our current distance environment, and the work we will be doing in-person with students when we return to campus. The third item, Resume, pertains to the work we are doing throughout the remainder of this year and will be doing all of next year to ensure that students are on their expected and desired trajectories for their learning. Depending on where we are in our work, not all three of these items will have new information in each newsletter.

Reset: Two developments in our work at Hamilton to ready for an eventual addition of an in-person option for school. First, this week our Planning for Safety Committee just about wrapped our work developing procedures and protocols that will help to maintain a safe schooling environment at such time that the choice for in-person schooling is made available. Our list of procedural and protocol items currently numbers 75. Our Leadership Team will soon review the 75 items and provide feedback, after which updates will be made by the committee and a user friendly document will be created and shared with our entire community. Second, the district has communicated to all staff members that it believes that educators will be in the 1B vaccination group, and that a process of scheduling vaccines for school district staff members will begin to take place soon. Keep in mind that the 1B group includes around 1.5 million people state-wide, and that the state is currently receiving about 70,000 vaccines per week. As such, it will likely be many weeks before all MMSD staff are able to get the first of their two vaccination shots.

Who says distance learning can't taste great? Pictures above and below are creations that were made and photographed by students in Jillian Johnson's Culinary Arts classes. These items are largely sweet treats; we will move on to the savory items in next week's newsletter!
