Newsletter Hiatus

The Hamilton Headlines newsletter will be taking its own break over the two week Winter Break. The next edition of the newsletter is scheduled to hit email inboxes on or about Thursday, January 5.

Happy New Year! From all of us at Hamilton Middle, we would like to wish our entire Hamilton community a safe and healthy 2023. We have come a long way since this time last year when we were still requiring mask wearing, enforcing physical distancing, and having students eat in 13 different locations for each lunch period. Here's hoping for a great New Year!

Sixth Grade Biographies

Students in Erik Branch's 6th grade ELA classes recently completed a unit on biographies, including writing a summary of a chosen biography and presenting their information in character. Biographies ranged from Julius Caesar and Minamoto no Yoshitsune, to Ben Franklin, Typhoid Mary, Anne Frank, LBJ, Trevor Noah, Diane Guerrero, and many more!.

Thank You PTO and Families! There has been no shortage of food in our Hamilton Staff Lounge this past week, as our Hamilton PTO along with all of you have been taking good care of us! First was the staff luncheon last Friday for which there were many crockpots of homemade soups, in addition to salads, desserts, a fridge full of beverages, and lots of wonderful bread products from Origin Breads. Next came today's pizza lunch with loads of pizza provided by Hamilton parents Andrea and Dan Funk. THANK YOU!

Photo Finish:

This past Friday we had an "ACT" day. And no, this is not about a day of working on college test prep! ACT stands for 'Active Community Time', the purpose of which is to build school-wide community. For ACT, we run an alternative bell schedule, leaving the last hour of the day for students to participate in fun activities of personal interest. Students choose from activities such as board games, making bath bombs, knitting, 4-square, volleyball, drawing, Uno, ultimate frisbee, making hot chocolate bombs, quiet reading, and many, many more. The sign up procedure helps to ensure that the activity groups are populated from across all three grade levels, providing students with vertical connection opportunities. Enjoy the pics!
