Spring Dance: Stay tuned! We are working to re-schedule this event!

Infinite Campus Reminder

We continue to receive inquiries from parents curious about how to monitor their children's progress here at Hamilton Middle. There is a simple solution!

Infinite Campus, or IC, is the main data warehouse of your child's educational progress. Downloading the IC app to your phone allows you to see your child's schedule and assigned teachers, grades on assignments, including the designation of "Missing" immediately after the teacher enters the information in their electronic grade book. The same type of notification will arrive to your phone for attendance where you can see immediately if your child has been marked absent or tardy. There are a variety of options in the app's settings for receiving notifications, including choices on the types of notifications you want to receive and those you do not want to receive. For directions for using and downloading the IC app to your phone, see the below link, which also includes information on how to configure the appropriate notification settings in the app. Note that you will need to download IC through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. IC can also be accessed from a computer.

Pi Day!

March 14 (3.14) has become a rite of spring. Pi Day is a day on which math classes especially celebrate the circle and the formulas that involve pi. In Joan Unmacht's math classes there is a contest to see who can correctly name in order the most digits for pi. This year's winner was Bing with 102! Many classes also celebrate the day with actual pie!

8th Grade Concert

There was a long line last night of family members waiting to get into the 8th Grade Chorus and Band concert. These springtime 8th grade concerts show off the growth in music that has taken place for our students across their three years of middle school. And that growth is truly remarkable! We are proud of our music programs and the work and commitment of our Hamilton Middle students! We are thankful too for the leadership of music teachers Jim Kyle, Margaret Jenks, and Niiki Hakala, along with the always dependable and expert support from district Fine Arts Teacher Leader Randy Swiggum! Photos above and below are from last night's event.

Reminder: Paid UW Research Opportunity

UW Madison is offering a paid participation research opportunity for children between the ages of 8-12. The study focuses on the biological basis of childhood anxiety, a very common condition that impacts up to 20% of children and can cause social, academic, and family disruptions. The below linked study flyer invites interested families to visit a UW website to learn more about the study, and to complete an online screening if they think their child may be a good fit for the study. Interested families are compensated with a $10 gift card if they choose to complete the study screening. Study visits are completed outside of school hours.
