Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15 through October 15 was Hispanic Heritage Month. Across these four weeks, students participated in a series of lessons in their Advisory classes. These lessons were a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and histories of the American Latino community.

The Advisory lessons included topics on the origins of Hispanic Heritage Month, the reasons behind it, and some of the many contributions that the Latinx community has provided to our culture and community here in the United States, and in countries around the world. Across the four weeks, students also listened to music, participated in dances, and watched videos of some of our own Hamilton Middle students who provided cultural insights into our Latinx community.

Spirit Week: Decades Day

Calendar Note: Please note that there was an error in the calendar section of this newsletter. The day in early December when there is no school for students is Monday, December 5.

Zumba Time: Shelly Duffield hosts Zumba for all in her classroom on Friday mornings during Soft Start. It is a fun way to engage in the start to the last day of the school week!

6th Grade Early People Pre-History Museum Showcase

After a long pandemic related hiatus, the 6th grade Early People Prehistory Museum Showcase returned to our campus this past week! The teeming masses, including over 250 parents and family members joined us to walk through our nine 6th grade classrooms to see the work created by our students. Thank you for the support; thank you to our 6th grade teaching team; and of course thank you to our 6th grade students--two thumbs up for sure!
