VICA Urges Teachers and School District to Avoid a Strike
|
VICA and other Los Angeles business associations released an open letter to Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent Austin Beutner and United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) President Alex Caputo-Pearl urging further negotiation to avoid a teachers' strike. VICA stressed the devastating impact a strike would have on students, teachers, parents, and workers. VICA recommended that both parties work towards a resolution that is both fair to teachers and allows LAUSD to remain fiscally solvent. VICA also offered to lend a hand to help advocate for increased education funding from Sacramento.
