LA Right to Life ALERT:  Victory for LA Women
HB388 Passes Senate; Thank Your Senator!
Add a description
Rep. Hoffmann (R-West Monroe), Dorinda Bordlee; Bioethics Defense Fund, Rep. Katrina Jackson (D-Monroe), Benjamin Clapper; Louisiana Right to Life
On Wednesday, Louisiana Right to Life's flagship legislation, the Unsafe Abortion Protection Act (HB388), passed the Louisiana Senate by an overwhelming margin of 34 to 3.

HB 388 is critical for Louisiana because women are often
harmed by abortionists who are more interested in the $450 they receive from each abortion rather than
the health and safety of their patient.

Now that HB 388 has passed the Senate Floor, it heads to Governor Jindal's desk after a procedural concurrence vote in the House. Read about the vote and click this link to thank your state senator.

RH Reality Check Should Check Again
On May 1st, the pro-abortion website, RH Reality Check, published an article entitled "Louisiana Anti-Choice Advocates, Lawmakers Exploit Black Genocide Myth".
The article discusses Representative Katrina Jackson's (D-Monroe) bill, the Unsafe Abortion Protection Act (HB 388), and its potential impact on minority women.

According to the article, Rep. Jackson and proponents of HB 388 are misguiding the New Orleans community by stating that the staggering rate of abortions in the African American community is "black genocide". The article also complains about the NOLA Needs Peace billboards placed on the proposed Planned Parenthood facility in New Orleans which features an African- American baby.

In the article, New Orleans Council Woman, LaToya Cantrell, said she fully supports Planned Parenthood because of the importance of access to reproductive health care for people in New Orleans. She said, "access to care is particularly important in low-income communities and communities of color", and called the NOLA Needs Peace billboards "fear-mongering at its worst."

However, RH Reality Check seems to conveniently leave out a critical fact about abortion in the African American community: Abortion ends the life of more African- Americans than all other causes of death combined, including accidents, cancer, AIDS and violent crimes. This is exactly why Rep. Jackson reminded the audience of the truth about "black genocide" in the
Louisiana House Health and Welfare Committee on March 31st.

Is it merely a coincidence that Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, places 79% of their abortion facilities in minority communities?  Bradley Mattes, the Executive Director of Life Issues Institute, doesn't think so. He said:

"This solid evidence is overwhelmingly convincing that Planned Parenthood's business model is to generate income from an increased number of abortions in minority neighborhoods."

Until the media stops denying this genocide, more lives of minority children will be tragically lost. The pro-life movement must continue to raise awareness on these truths, and in the mean time, RH Reality Check should check again.
