Dear Barrington 220 Community,
This week, I’m excited to share another episode from my video series All in 220. For this episode, I traveled to Prairie Campus and sat down for a discussion with Keaton, a 7th grader, who says that English Teacher Kim Barlow is the “secret sauce” that makes Prairie such a special place.
As you may recall, earlier this school year, I talked to staff about what makes Barrington 220 #ThePlaceToB and how I believe one of the secret ingredients to our success, or “secret sauce” is the dedication of our staff.
Ms. Barlow began working in Barrington 220 in 1990. She worked as a 5th-grade teacher at Sunny Hill Elementary for nine years before moving to Prairie. Ms. Barlow was instrumental in helping to create the Prairie Pride Award in 2007. The goal of Prairie Pride is to recognize students who have demonstrated extraordinary behavior and academic performance/improvement over time.
I want to thank Ms. Barlow for making Prairie #ThePlaceToB for our students. In addition, I want to thank a few BHS students who helped with this project. BHS culinary student Esbeiry Lopez, made the “secret sauce” I presented to Ms. Barlow in the video. BHS graphic design students Grace Barger and Sabrina Collette helped design the label on the sauce jar.
