DEVELOPING AND MANAGING THE FUTURE OF APARTMENT HOME LIVING
August 2019
Dear FJG Family,
The first Monday in September is Labor Day - a tribute to contributions made by American workers to the growth and development of the country. As I look out over our growing company, I notice many of our team members working together as one team and contributing tremendous value towards our organization.

It is remarkable what can happen when people come together with skill, experience and passion: that is one of the highest expressions of how labor creates value for those we serve.

Regardless of your plans, whether you are working or not, take a moment to acknowledge what we've accomplished together and how important each of you are to the TFJG Family.

Sincerely,

Taylor Franklin

Be the Solution Winners Solution
Congratulations to the following team members for taking extraordinary measures to Be the Solution  at their communities:

Elliott Mitchell, Maintenance Supervisor at Colony House

Elliott was nominated by his Community Manager, Joyce Wise. Joyce wrote: "Elliott has displayed not just one of the core values but ALL of our core values. His undeniable commitment to not only his site but to our sister sites has been beyond impressive! During our past REAC and MOR inspections, Elliott didn't hesitate to hop on board and do whatever needed to be done, working past business hours, and completing all work that needed to be done without complaining! With his knowledge of his job he has even taught me a few things about how to speak with vendors, and how to understand what is needed on that end! His character is and was unwavering, showing optimism throughout these past few weeks. He showed up to Colony earlier than expected to clean, and head out to help our sister sites with a smile! This was all done while still checking in and asking if everything was good over at Colony. I personally over heard him also check on his dad when his dog passed recently and maintaining that balance we all need. Elliott is a real asset to this team and we are all grateful for him! We appreciate all that he does for us here in RI, as well as his commitment!"

Tamara Malone, Community Manager at Village Oaks

Tamara was nominated by Village Oaks Assistant Community Manager, Alesia Strickland. Alesia wrote: " Tamara has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to Village Oaks Apartments. Tamara is caring, resourceful, and is always ready to offer professional services no matter the task. What I really like about Tamara is that she has an open door policy that encourages openness and transparency with the staff and residents, here at Village Oaks Apartments. She has such a humble spirit about her that will captivate your attention. Tamara is well appreciated here at Village Oaks Apartments."

Renaye Freeman, Community Manager at Villa Terrace

Renaye was nominated by Portfolio Manager, Stephanie Bertucci, after receiving a note from a Villa Terrace resident. The resident wrote: "I wanted to commend Ms. Freeman for the tremendous job that she did for the apartment community with the back-to-school bash. The kids and residents had so much fun. She did so much hard work and made sure everything was taken care of.  She provided food and all the good things for the children to eat, plus she provided for residents who were unable to make it to the event. Ms. Freeman does such a tremendous job providing for the community and getting things done. We are so thankful for her commitment to us and keeping this community a great place to live." Stephanie wrote: "Renaye is a great team player - it does not surprise me when I get notes from residents commending her hard work. We are lucky to have her with our TFJG family!"

Mike Ellrich, Senior Community Manager

Mike was nominated by Niketa Washington (Portfolio Manager), and Ashley Armstrong (Community Manager for The Arbors at Culpeper).
Niketa wrote: "Until now, I've never had the pleasure of working with Mike. I am so thankful that Matt Hacker suggested his presence at Shockoe; he was the help I didn't know I needed! This property's transition has been nothing short of chaotic and I appreciate Mike taking time away from his own property to jump in wherever I needed him. In terms of being the solution, Mike was just that- resolving resident issues, providing maintenance, helping train new staff, and more!  Thank you, Mike- you are much appreciated!" Ashley wrote: "It has been such a pleasure working with Mike Ellrich. A few of us were sent to help out at one of the new take over properties in Richmond.  When we took over, the existing staff did not stay on so we had to piece together information we were given and figure out the rest! Not knowing much about the property that has 7 different buildings in downtown Richmond, it became very evident that there was work that needed to be done and it needed to be done fast. We were there to ease residents' concerns about the transition, accept rent payments, give tours, process about 30 move outs that had just taken place, then get the units ready for move-ins, many of which were scheduled by the former management giving us only two days to make them ready!  Mike stepped in to action and cleaned apartments, helped with maintenance issues, helped us in the office. He worked tirelessly, many times into the evening hours, only to have to wake up extra early to do it all over again the next day. He jumped in with no hesitation at all and worked with a level of pride and care that I genuinely feel characterizes our company. He did it all with a positive, "can do" attitude and a deep sense of 'we can do it... we will get it all done!'  Mike really impressed me and I feel that he should be recognized for his team work and can do attitude! I am so grateful for his help and knowledge during a stressful few days and feel extremely fortunate to have someone like him in our company!"

Niesha Goodwin, Community Manager at Audubon Briarcliff

Niesha Goodwin was nominated by our VP of Marketing, Angie Lombardi, after receiving a note from a happy resident! The resident wrote: "I just wanted to call out Niesha Goodwin, the community manager at Audubon Briarcliff. She went above and beyond to get some property of mine back to me. I'm extremely grateful to her that she spent the time to track me down, and I wanted to make sure somebody other than her knew that I appreciated it as much as I did.  Even if it was a small thing to her, it's those kinds of things that really resonate with people and make them feel welcome, which obviously comes in handy when running a complex."
