NEWS FROM MOOR HALL STUDIO

Since I last wrote to you I have managed to get away for 4 days with Martin to Ponte Caffaro in Northern Italy. What a welcomed break that turned out to be. It was so lovely staying with friends and seeing many of our Italians friends while out there. I have had a great deal of contact with this community over the years........I have exhibited there, danced there, participated in musical events, taught drawing and textiles workshops, as well as enjoying the food and culture.
There are some beautiful villages to visit, set high in the mountains, on cliff edges. This one is the village of Bondone, in Northern Italy. Some years ago we walked up the mountains to this place, but this time we went by car!!!!

I love the cobbled streets and tiled roofs.......and what a view over Ponte Caffaro below.
Ponte Caffaro has a very strong tradition of music and dance and perform at 'Carnevale' each year in February. It is a magical time to be there. These images were taken when we were there in 2007.
Costumes are beautifully embroidered by hand, often by the mothers of the dancers. Hats and shawls are all lavish in decoration. It is wonderful to see them in their costumes and masks all together at 'Carnevale'
