SPRING 2025 - Celebrating Our Volunteers!

VISTE’s mission is to enable elderly persons to remain
safely and independently in their own homes.

President's Message

by Steve Bissonnette

During times of great uncertainty, I’m often reminded of the book “Who Moved My Cheese?” by Spencer Johnson. In that book we’re reminded that change is inevitable. We can’t control change, but we can control how we react to it. Over the past few months many have asked if/how VISTE might be impacted by proposed cutbacks in federal funding. The quick response is Yes, it is likely that VISTE services will be negatively affected. However, the extent and full impact of those changes remain unclear. The question itself highlights the special nature of this organization and the community that embraces it.

Since VISTE’s inception in 1983, volunteers and staff have consistently approached this mission with the philosophy of neighbors helping neighbors.

Celebrating Our Volunteers!

by Kayla McClenthen, Volunteer Manager

To enable seniors to stay safe and independent in their own homes”—VISTE Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the elderly community, with dedicated individuals contributing their time and skills to make a difference.

The Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon is a small way to say THANK YOU! VISTE recognizes and appreciates these volunteers who also create a positive and sustainable volunteer culture. Imagine volunteers as a giant puzzle—each volunteer is a unique piece that fits perfectly to create a beautiful picture of community, love, and unity. Thank you for being a piece of the VISTE puzzle.

Leadership Notes

by Dorothy Blackwell, Development Manager

VISTE is fortunate to have a talented and highly-engaged Board and Advisory Board, and we are grateful for all these volunteers do for VISTE and our elderly clients! Several years ago, VISTE began an effort to recruit and train a younger generation of Board and Advisory Board members, and we appreciate their new ideas, energy, and enthusiasm. We are looking to the future, and sustainability for essential services to benefit local seniors is a priority.

Thank You from a VISTE Client

“I feel so honored to be served by all of you. At 100, I would not be able to stay in my home if it were not for your help. Trips for doctor’s appointments are never a worry for me. The two meals each week are such a help. And above all, you are so kind and caring. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” - Ruth
