HAPPY NEW YEAR! That greeting takes on special significance this time as 2023 marks the 40th Anniversary of Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE). We invite you to join us throughout this coming year to honor those who started and built up this unique organization, celebrate this milestone anniversary, and look forward to the next 40+ years of service to our elderly neighbors . . .

Join us for the 18th Annual VISTEBall & Kickoff for VISTE’s 40th Anniversary
VISTEBall is back and better than ever! Our signature annual fundraising event will take place IN PERSON at the SUN 'n FUN Expo Campus in Lakeland on Saturday, February 4 from 6:00-9:30 pm. The golf-themed extravaganza features games, food and drinks, prizes, and more - all for a great cause, helping local seniors in need. Enjoy complimentary beer, wine, and margaritas throughout the evening. Dinner will be available from 6:30-8:00 pm. Drinks, appetizers, dinner, games, and prizes are all included in the ticket price of $75 per person. Purchase tickets here.
We’ll also have the popular Wheelbarrow of Cheer and an Online Auction! The Wheelbarrow of Cheer is filled to the brim with wine and spirits of all kinds. Tickets are $5 each, with a discount for multiple tickets. The drawing will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 7:30 pm, and you don’t have to be present to win. Purchase tickets here. Spotlight on Frank O’Reilly:
Founding Board Member & Volunteer
In 1983, a small group of men affiliated with Catholic Charities in Lakeland saw an unmet need in the community – their elderly neighbors had no way to get to medical appointments. The group, including Frank O’Reilly, wanted to help and began providing free transportation for seniors in need. From this effort Volunteers in Service to the Elderly was established. Recently we had the pleasure of visiting with Frank about his long association with VISTE; his admiration for his wife, President Emeritus Alice O’Reilly; and his friendship with “Mr. George” Jenkins. We are pleased to share his story . . .

We are SO excited to be ramping up for VISTEBall 2023, and it’s just around the corner! Please contact me if you have worked VISTEBall in the past and would like to again, or if you would like to for the first time! We are looking for volunteers for the following days and times:
Friday, February 3 from 1-4 pm
to help with setup
Saturday, February 4 from 9-12 am or 11 am-2 pm
to help with setup
Saturday, February 4 from 5-9:30 pm
to help during the event

NOTE: Duties range from decorating, to setting tablecloths, to serving food, and other tasks! Come on out, meet some new friends, AND receive a VISTE 40th Anniversary t-shirt as a thank you!
