Dear Artisans,

This wine is utterly jaw-dropping with the most unique bouquet of unrelenting decadent TOFFEE and ground coffee notes. It's made whole cluster (stem inclusion), unfiltered, and unfined; thus tastes and feels more like a Gevrey Chambertin from Burgundy, wrapped in a Chateauneuf-du-Pape robe.

The Domaine Gour de Chaulé, situated in the heart of the village of Gigondas, was founded in 1900 by Eugene Bonfils, the great-grandfather of the current proprietor, Stephanie Fumoso.

The domaine comprises 15 hectares, 10 of which are within Gigondas with the remaining 5 hectares situated in the surrounding communes of Vacqueyras and Violes. This family has always conducted their affairs with the understanding that minimal intervention in the vineyards and in the cave is essential to preserving the essential character of the wines of this important appellation.

Both wines are case-worthy in every way. We have only 36 bottles of each so please move quickly to secure any!

2020 Domaine Gour de Chaule Gigondas Cuvee Tradition

Southern Rhone Valley, France

96 Points - Vinous:

"Saturated ruby. Assertively perfumed, mineral-tinged red berry, cherry, lavender and incense scents show outstanding clarity and spicy lift. Concentrated yet lively black raspberry, cherry-cola, succulent herb and floral pastille flavors pick up a hint of spicy white pepper on the back half. The floral and red fruit notes shine on the strikingly long finish, featuring polished tannins and reverberating spice and mineral notes. All whole clusters. 94 Points - Decanter:

Considerably more interesting on the nose than many Gigondas this year, revealing raspberry, cranberry and oregano. Full-bodied, but a fairly restrained tannic structure. Pure and harmonious, the alcohol is quite raised but otherwise the balance is good. Taken from 23 parcels around the appellation, hand-harvested, natural yeasts used, matured in concrete, foudres and old barriques. A good value option. (Drink between 2023-2033)

2021 Domaine Gour de Chaule .'30' Cotes du Rhone La Vigneronne

This is an uber small production wine from the Domaine, that can be legally labeled as Vacqueyras AOC... but they DON'T so you pay a Cotes du Rhone Price.

A small amount of Côtes du Rhône is produced from the vineyards owned by the estate in the communes of Vacqueyras and Violes. As with the more noble Gigondas, this cuvée is based almost exclusively on the Grenache grape (approximately 90% of the blend annually). It is vinified in a fashion similar to the Gigondas except that the élevage is less long. This is to say that there is an extended cuvaison with stems included, malolactic is done in cuve and the wine sees a brief stay in large foudres before being bottled eighteen months after harvest without fining or filtration.

Dusty blackberries, forest floor + herbs, sweet plum, whiffs of menthol + tobacco leaf, sweet violets. The palate is slate minerality, blackberry and tobacco.
