We will discuss with VNA management an extension of the Add-on to continue in January as the pandemic continues.
Agreement language is as follows:
Due to the ongoing nationwide pandemic of COVID-19, VNAHG and JNESO agree to the following:

  1. VNAHG transitioned the treatment of medium to high COVID risk patients from the work of the voluntary Task Force program of volunteers to all staff under regular duties.
  2. Attention will still be paid to meeting CDC guidelines regarding age restrictions and health exclusions around managing a high risk population of patients before training and deploying a nurse for medium to high COVID risk patient care.
  3. Effective June 1, 2020, nurses who were trained and deployed to care for medium to high COVID risk patients as of June 1, 2020 will be compensated with a $5/hour add-on to their current pay for all hours worked.
  4. Effective June 1, 2020, those nurses not trained to care for medium to high COVID risk patients who were active on regular duty as of June 1, 2020 (those actively engaged in direct contact with patients/families/caregivers as of June 1, 2020), will be compensated with a $2/hour add-on to their current pay for all hours worked.
  5. Those nurses trained and deployed after June 1, 2020 will be compensated with a $5/hour add-on to their current pay for all hours worked, effective their first date of deployment for care for medium to high COVID risk patients.
  6. Those nurses who move from inactive status to active status on regular duty after June 1, 2020, and have not completed training to care for medium to high COVID risk patients, will be compensated with a $2/hour add-on to their current pay for all hours worked, as of the date of their status change from inactive to regular duty.
  7. Nurses will continue to be trained in small groups in a central location and will be given the appropriate PPE before treating medium to high COVID risk patients.
  8. VNAHG will offer these date add-on incentives through December 31, 2020.
