Greetings!
How are you?
As I promised in my previous newsletter here are some highlights from VO Atlanta 2026. In a nutshell—it was exciting, intense, busy, and a lot of fun! If you’re not familiar with it, the VO Atlanta Voiceover Conference is the largest and longest-running event in our industry.
It’s truly the go-to gathering for voiceover professionals to stay current with trends, sharpen performance skills, learn best practices, and gain valuable insight from industry experts.
My biggest takeaway came from Casting Director Tina Morasco who shared in her presentation: "Creatives Directors don't think of what they are making as commercials anymore — they refer to them as short films. And that changes everything when casting because we’re listening for the actor’s understanding and connection to the story of the film, and not to the sound of their voice.” Tina also reminded us that “everything is about authenticity, subtlety, and nuance. Since the visuals of the film are the star of the show, the VO’s job is to bring the audience’s attention to the story in a way that almost goes unnoticed.”
On a lighter note, one of the most fun moments of the conference was the dance party, where many attendees show up in costume. This year, the spotlight was stolen by two talented friends and colleagues dressed as Super Mario Bros and Luigi. If you have a minute, I highly recommend watching their Mario and Luigi mini video here! —guaranteed to make you smile!
On the professional front, I’ve been focusing more intentionally on the political space—collaborating with consultants and agencies specializing in multicultural campaigns. My work supports Spanish-language media, bilingual messaging, and culturally nuanced communication strategies aimed at connecting authentically with Hispanic audiences.
On a personal note, I recently had a lovely visit from a friend from Mexico. We also spent time with a mutual friend here in the Tampa Bay area—who happens to have a beautiful dog named Bruno, featured below.
Lastly, I’ll be away from my recording booth next week, from Monday, April 27 through Thursday, April 30. I’ll have my recording gear with me, but response times and audio delivery may be slightly delayed.
The reason? I’ll be in Las Vegas celebrating my mom’s birthday! I’m looking forward to sharing highlights from this special mother-daughter trip in my next edition—stay tuned.
Below, you’ll find a few photos and videos from these moments.
Thank you for reading, watching, and being part of my journey.
See you next month!
Warmly,
Nydia
