Last Month's 2-Day Innovation Summit Deemed Great Success
|
|
PHA Innovation Summit 2022 marked an amazing two days of thought leadership and interactive discussion certain to drive industry advancement. Rose Maljanian, Chairman & CEO HealthCAWS and PHA Board Chairman Emeritus, kicked off the virtual event with her personal top five priorities and solutions in behavioral health, chronic care, senior health and home care, workforce strain, and SDOH and health equity.
We heard from keynote Robert W. Woodruff Professor Dr. Ken Thorpe, Chairman of the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease, about strategies to improve chronic care and the promise of RPM. SVP and Aetna Chief Medical Officer at CVS Health, Dr. Kyu Rhee shared CVS’ Precision Population Health model and his vision for consumer trust. Dr. Sandro Galea, prolific author and Dean School of Public Health, Boston University, described the framework for challenges presented by COVID and how we may be better prepared for the next crisis. Welldoc led a panel on digital health, including discussion of guidance devices and tools to safely and effectively serve consumers.
Day Two kicked got underway with an intriguing Fireside Chat with serial entrepreneur and Transcarent CEO Glen Tullman on the work still yet to be done to solve healthcare complexity. We also heard a keynote from Dan Mendelson, CEO Morgan Health, with a focus on driving care model quality and efficiency by combining data, technology, and financial incentives to achieve affordability.
Top-tier panel discussions with industry leading experts included: optimizing consumer engagement though digital health; innovations in investment capital; fueling population health improvements with advanced data analytics; addressing BH concerns in post-COVID escalation; and integrating SDOH and health equity strategies into your population health improvement strategies.
In her closing remarks, Maljanian stated: “Pearls of wisdom and key takeaways were too numerous to mention, so we'll leave you with just these few:
- emphasize prevention versus sick care
- create whole-person integrated approaches that include BH and social needs that alleviate barriers, especially for disadvantaged populations
- advance technology and services to better serve consumers in their place of choice, most often home or community, and
- ease friction and burden to preserve and strengthen our health care workforce.
Please join PHA and be part of PHA’s committed organizations creating positive impact for millions of consumers. Please also participate in the live Expo in Washington DC on October 25th and 26th."
PHA extends special thanks to our sponsors: Bayer, Virgin Pulse, Better Medicare Alliance, NeuroFlow, Welldoc, Mars, NACDD, PA Clinical Network and HealthNext, and all our members for a great event.

PHA and Bayer Launch New Resource for Chronic Kidney Disease
|
|
PHA, working with our Corporate Partner and innovation leader, Bayer Global, recently launched a new resource focusing on one the nation’s most severe medical conditions and an under-recognized public health crisis—Chronic Kidney Disease (CDK).
Though often unknown to the public, CDK causes more deaths than breast cancer or prostate cancer. With more than 1 in 7—that is 15% of US adults or 37 million people—estimated to have CKD. And because as many as 9 in 10 adults with CKD do not know they have it, with 2 in 5 of those adults actually having severe CKD cases, we partnered to get the word out about this serious disease, as well as to provide a place to share available resources and information about clinical practice guidelines, consumer educational materials, and research trials. We will continue to work with Bayer on updating and sharing this important information critical to patients, caregivers, and providers.
