Volunteer Opportunities at Upcoming LUM Events
Port of Hope, fundraiser event for the LUM   Immigration Clinic (Thursday, Nov. 8  at the Lafayette Brewing Co.), needs volunteers. Volunteer opportunities for Port of Hope are as follows:
  • Set Up - Wednesday, November 7, 5-7 p.m.
  • Set Up & Staff the Event - Thursday, Nov. 8, 3-8 p.m.
  • Clean Up - Thursday, Nov. 9, 7:45-9 p.m.

Become a volunteer at the LUM  Port of Hope event and help create a fun and educational experience — all in support of the programs & services offered by the LUM Immigration Clinic.
LUM  Jubilee Christmas  needs lots of volunteer "elves" to bring Christmas to local families and children in need. Volunteer opportunities are as follows:
  • Host a Family on Saturday, December 8 (100+ needed)
  • Staff our "Donation Center" - Nov. 26 to Dec. 4, 1-5 p.m.
  • Sort Toys - December 4 & 6
  • Prepare a Mailing to our registered families (Nov. 5)

These opportunities are perfect for GROUPS ( student organizations, civic & church groups, families & groups of co-workers).

Everyone is welcome at the annual LUM Greater Lafayette Interfaith Community Thanksgiving Celebration, and LUM relies on dozens of volunteers like you. There are many opportunities for YOU to serve your community neighbors on Thanksgiving Day ( Thursday, Nov. 22) from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, Lafayette, including...

  • Performing

The LUM  After School Program needs volunteers from  2-6 p.m., every weekday. Volunteers are needed to tutor, read to students, give spelling tests and supervise the children. Volunteer bus drivers are also needed. Volunteer and make a difference in the lives of our students. The LUM  Emergency Shelter  needs Overnight Shelter Volunteers 365 nights a year from 8 p.m.-7 a.m. or 8 p.m. -midnight. Duties include checking in guests, serving dinner, distributing toiletries and maintaining a welcoming, safe & clean environment.
The LUM  Winter Warming Station will open in mid-November and will also need volunteers each night.

Rent-A-Rower for Your Yard Work & Projects
One Purdue Rower - 5 Hours of Work - Only $75
Rent-A-Rower is a unique service provided by  Purdue Crew that allows YOU (members of the community) to hire rowing athletes to help out with housework, yard work and other tasks - and all proceeds benefit Purdue Crew & rowing.

  • $75 for up to 5 hours of work (donation is tax deductible)
  • 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Saturdays — October 27 & November 10; Make up day: Sunday, November 18
