The Lost Purpose of Learning:
Special Guest Lecture TOMORROW, January 25, 3:30 PM

Veritas Prep is pleased to announce a guest lecture by a visiting professor, Dr. Joseph Clair, director of the William Penn Honors Program at George Fox University. Dr. Clair will be speaking about how the writings of the influential figure Augustine of Hippo (whom our seniors read in Humane Letters) saved the liberal arts at the end of the Roman Empire, and how Augustine's vision can do the same for education in our own age.

Admission is free and the lecture is open to the public. It will take place on January 25, starting at 3:30 PM, in Veritas Prep's Evans Library.

We will explore the delights and riddles of English: wordplay (like puns and malapropisms, and how they work), complex grammar, making sense of poetic works like "The Jabberwocky", etc. We will practice writing and speaking, believing that finding the joy in something will nurture its use in class.
